SAA Announces Top Player Award
Sunday, October 9th , 2061
He may have less experience than most of his USSL Double A peers, but that didn't slow Carl Flowers down at all in 2061.
At the age of 23, the St. Petersburg first baseman has been named the winner of the USSL Double A Outstanding Hitter Award.
He had a .356 batting average and a .414 on-base percentage this year. In 102 games he piled up 147 hits, 27 doubles, no triples, 20 home runs, 57 RBIs and 68 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Paul Sherman of the Gulf Coast Turbeaus finished second in voting, while Gil Newell of the Gulf Coast Turbeaus finished third.
