Though he had a terrific game, Juan Flores could not prevent his team, the Norfolk Pajaritos, from absorbing a loss. Jersey City won the game, 6-3. Flores went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Jersey City starter Stanton Maxwell was credited with the win after throwing 98 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 2-2. The third-place Tritons lifted their record to 21-16.
Jersey City took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Tom Lambert stroked a run-scoring single to make it 3-2, Tritons.
Jersey City manager John Sirica praised his team's "businesslike approach."
