Behind a fine performance from Emmett Fairchild, the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys knocked off the Monongahela Monsters, 9-4. Fairchild went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Squirrel Monkeys. Júlio Maldonado finished the game for Syracuse and earned his 1st save. Monongahela is in the throes of a long losing streak, which is now 16 games.

With Syracuse leading 2-0 in the top of the second, Fairchild hit a cutter from José Contreras for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 6-0.

"We need to step it up, period," said an agitated Monongahela manager Andrés Pérez.
