The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys downed the Monongahela Monsters, 12-0. The hitting star was right fielder Sam McElroy. McElroy went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Squirrel Monkeys. Reliever Sean Long picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Sean Jones took the loss. The slumping Monsters have lost 17 straight.

Syracuse got a big at-bat from New York native Foster Brantley, who in the top of the eighth hit a grand slam home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 11-0.

"It was great to come out and swing the bats," Brantley told the Syracuse Herald.
