The Hollywood Shredders used an offensive barrage to beat the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 10-1, at The Hollywood Bowl. Stanley Johnston, who is tied for 2nd in the PL in home runs with 9, led the way, going 2-for-4 for Hollywood. The winner was Marc Clemow, who threw 97 pitches over 6 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 5 hits. Bob Kelso finished the game for Hollywood and earned his 1st save.

José Vera, who finished 4th in the PL in RBI with 65 last year, chipped in a 2-run home run for Hollywood in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
