Bakersfield center fielder Siu-chung Chin had a good game, even if his team did not. The Nobles dropped a 5-2 decision to Nashville at Jerome Grounds. Chin was 3-4 with a home run and a double. John McGrath picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 4-3. Marlon Anderson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.

Nashville used a clutch at-bat from Fernando Herrera to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Hot Chickens ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Herrera. "I think we showed that here."

Nashville is now 17-25.
