In a tight tilt between the Syracuse Starks and the Sacramento Redlegs, Todd Johnson was the deciding factor. The Syracuse right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. The win elevated the Starks to 22-21.

Up to bat in the bottom of the 11th, 29-year old first baseman Dale King had a chance to be the hero. Sacramento pitcher Gerald Currer wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, King hit a sacrifice fly. The Starks had themselves a thrilling win.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Syracuse skipper Homer Robertson.
