Pitcher Wes Johnston was sensational for the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids in his team's 4-0 triumph over the Hollywood Shredders. Johnston earned the win. Northern Virginia goes to 21-21, Hollywood to 23-19.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for António García? The Northern Virginia shortstop had a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 1-0. For the game, García had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Wes did a good job keeping the game under control," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister.
