Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Pennsauken Flyers and Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys.

Pennsauken picked up a win at Pennsauken Park, bumping off the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, 5-3. Pitcher Álex López was a major reason the Flyers emerged victorious. The winning pitcher was López, now 4-1. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7.

Mel Kiper III had a big 2-run home run for the Flyers in the bottom of the third inning. With Pennsauken leading 3-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a slider from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Alfredo Pérez and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Flyers on top, 5-0.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Kiper III told the Pennsauken News.

The 7th-place Flyers now sit at 23-24.
