The exploits of first baseman Paul Johnston, who is tied for 10th in the PAAA in triples with 2, helped the Syracuse Starks defeat the Calgary Lynx, 3-2. Johnston went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jorge Vázquez picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-4. He struck out 6 in 7 innings. Daniel Haney, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.

Johnston had an important at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the sixth, when he hit a solo home run. The Starks went on to win.

"Every loss stings," said Calgary manager Steve Duncan. "This one is no exception."

The victory puts Syracuse at 20-29.
