Strong Slugs Starks to 5-1 Win
|
The timely hitting of Bill Strong helped the Syracuse Starks down the Pennsauken Flyers, 5-1. Strong belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Starks. Syracuse raised its record to 25-24 with the win.
With Syracuse leading 1-0 in the top of the first, Strong hit a fastball from Bob McCann for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Starks ahead, 3-0.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Strong.
