Tritons Suffer One-Run Loss at Bakersfield
|
Bakersfield got a strong outing from Francisco Encarnación as the Nobles defeated the Jersey City Tritons, 3-2, at Jerome Grounds. In 6 innings, Encarnación surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The 'W' lifts Bakersfield's record to 28-22.
The Tritons had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Nobles going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 34-year old second baseman Seppo Kimmonen came to the plate. Kimmonen hit a solo home run on a 3-1 cutter from Jersey City hurler Nathan Sims. It was Kimmonen's 4th home run of the year.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Bakersfield manager Timmy Appeldoorn. "It's usually not just one thing."
