Syracuse Keeps Trending in Wrong Direction
|
The Baton Rouge Brass thumped the Syracuse Starks, 8-1, at Stark Stadium. Roberto Gómez was a big reason his team got the win. Gómez went 3-5 with 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. J.J. Hebert, the winner, is now 6-3. He struck out 3 and walked 3 over 6.1 innings, while allowing no runs on 5 hits. The losses continue to mount for Syracuse, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
With Baton Rouge leading 1-0 in the top of the first, Gómez hit a 2-run single off Syracuse hurler Steve Ward. It was the 28th hit of the season for Gómez and put his team ahead, 3-0.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Baton Rouge manager Luis Ruíz.
