Fowler Hits Two Homers in 7-3 Win for Providence
|
The Providence Pilgrims defeated the Billings Polar Bears, 7-3, at Field of Plenty. Providence center fielder Mike Fowler had a superb performance. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Providence starter Gabriel Reyes was credited with the win after throwing 108 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. With the win, Providence is 1-1.
With Providence leading 3-0 in the bottom of the second, Fowler came up to bat against Billings pitcher Ryan Ward. Fowler hit a knuckle curve to right for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Pilgrims on top, 7-0.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Fowler.
