Getting a good performance from center fielder Mario Ortíz, the Montreal Machine defeated the Nashville Hot Chickens, 5-3. Ortíz was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Machine. Montreal reliever Rudolph Williams picked up the win to move to 3-2. Marlon Anderson suffered the loss. Montreal currently is in 6th place in the Premier AAA at 24-28.

Jerry Downey came through with a big-time hit for Montreal. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Montreal manager Alfonso Vera.
