Rainbow Mermaids Top Voodoo to Even Record
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids knocked off the New Orleans Voodoo, 4-3, in United States Premier League action at The Voodoo Lounge. Northern Virginia pitcher and Ofunato, Japan, native Mitsuo Yoshida had an outstanding performance. Juan Carlos Mejía earned the save for Northern Virginia, his 7th. The Rainbow Mermaids are now 22-22.

Tied up with the Voodoo in the top of the fourth inning, the Rainbow Mermaids got a boost from right fielder Markus Lund. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Lund saw a first pitch changeup from Jesús Rosas and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Northern Virginia on top, 2-1.

Said Northern Virginia manager David Lister: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
