Pedro Torres, who is tied for 7th in the PAAA in quality starts with 6, was locked in. The left-hander led the Montreal Machine to a 4-1 win against the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys at The Zoo in Syracuse. Devin Hancock was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save. The second-place Machine have won 5 consecutive games.
Montreal used a well-timed hit by Ilija Maric to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Machine ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Machine manager Alfonso Vera, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
