Sacramento beat Baton Rouge at Sacramento Sanitation Station, eking out a 6-5 win. The triumph was primarily due to third baseman Jason Cholmondoley. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Tom Ward was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 5 runs on 8 hits, with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts. The Redlegs go to 21-34 with the win.
Cholmondoley had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-2 fastball from Tai sun Huo, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Redlegs a 6-5 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Cholmondoley.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Cholmondoley told the Sacramento News.
