Brown Shines in 4-1 Monongahela Win
|
With right fielder Charles Brown leading the charge, the Monongahela Monsters defeated the Pennsauken Flyers, 4-1, at Pennsauken Park. Brown, who leads the PAAA in bases on balls with 29, went 4 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Bill Bray, the winner, is now 2-6. He struck out 5 and walked 0 over 7.1 innings, while allowing 1 run on 7 hits. Picking up the save was fireballing right-hander Cipriano Flores.
With Monongahela leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Brown hit a fastball from José Correa for a run-scoring triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Monsters ahead, 2-0.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Brown.
The Monsters go to 16-39 with the win.
