Flyers Earn Late Win
|
Pennsauken and Tortolita played a hard-fought contest.
Tortolita got a terrific performance from pitcher Manuel Villalobos, but it wasn't enough to beat the Pennsauken Flyers. Pennsauken won the Drummers Ballpark contest, 2-1. Villalobos threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. José Aguilar earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-1. Duane Marks closed the door for Pennsauken, picking up his 9th save of the year.
Pennsauken needed the clutch hitting of Manny Inserni to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Flyers on top, 2-1. For the game, Inserni had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Inserni told the Pennsauken Chronicle: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
This win makes it 5 in a row for Pennsauken.
