|
The Colorado Billy Goats overcame a pretty good performance by Toledo right fielder Elijah Smalls, beating the Stingers, 7-6, at Pacesetter Park. Smalls was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Colorado reliever Shawn Zimmerman picked up the win to move to 1-0. Fernando Ríos suffered the loss. The win gives Colorado a record of 4-1.
Juan Raspaldo, who finished 3rd in the PL in batting average with .308 in 2055, chipped in a run-scoring single for Colorado in the top of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 6 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 runs batted in.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Raspaldo told the Colorado Chronicle. "It's as simple as that."
