Tritons Prevail, 5-4, Over Bakersfield

The Jersey City Tritons defeated the Bakersfield Nobles, 5-4, in part because of designated hitter Rick Torraville. Torraville was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Tritons. Ramón Gracés earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Jersey City is now 28-30. Bakersfield is 31-27.
Reginald Hunter had a big 2-run home run for the Tritons in the bottom of the second inning. With Jersey City trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a splitter from Cordell Dawson, who is tied for 8th in the PAAA with a 1.13 WHIP, and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tritons ahead, 2-1.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Torraville told the Jersey City Times.
