Brass Use Late Rally to Win 4th Straight
|
The Baton Rouge Brass had to overcome a fine effort from Ellenburg pitcher Mal Edwards to win, 4-2, at Dog Park in Ellenburg. Edwards went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Baton Rouge reliever Eddie Walden got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jody Dunn was tagged with the loss. Picking up his 4th save was 31-year old right-handed pitcher Peter O'Farrell.
Baton Rouge used a timely hit from Brad Vaughn to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Brass ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I thought we played a nice game," Vaughn told the Baton Rouge Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
Baton Rouge goes to 39-20. The win puts them 3½ games up in their division.
