Ward, Sacramento Prevail in Pitchers' Duel
|
In a well-pitched game between the Sacramento Redlegs and the Nashville Hot Chickens, pitcher Tom Ward was superb. The Sacramento left-hander helped his team win, 2-0. Chris Evans picked up the save, his 4th. At 22-38, the Redlegs find themselves in last place in the Premier AAA.
Ward, a native of Gulfport, Mississippi, was dealing all game. He kept Nashville hitters off-balance, while giving the Redlegs 8 quality innings. Ward threw 106 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 6.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Paul Dawsey.
