The Syracuse Starks beat the Bakersfield Nobles, 4-3, in 10 innings. Syracuse pitcher and Rochester Hills, Michigan, native Millard Clement led the way. Syracuse goes to 30-31, Bakersfield to 34-27.

Syracuse used the timely hitting of Ricardo Ojíto to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Starks on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Bottom line," said Bakersfield skipper Timmy Appeldoorn, "we didn't play well enough to win."
