The Syracuse Starks beat the Port Huron Blitzkrieg at Stark Stadium. The final score was 3-1, in favor of Syracuse. Ángel Román led the way, going 3-for-4 for the home team. The save went to Daniel Haney, number 4 for him. The Starks now have a record of 23-40 with the win over Port Huron.
Had Matt Dunham not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Dunham hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Starks.
"Every play was important. Every out was important," said Starks manager Homer Robertson.
