The Syracuse Starks knocked off the Pennsauken Flyers, 9-5, at Stark Stadium. Paul Ferguson was a big reason Syracuse won. The catcher was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. José Carmona, the winner, goes to 9-2. He allowed 5 runs on 9 hits, with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts over 5.2 innings. The Starks sit in 4th place in the Premier AAA with a record of 34-31.

Ferguson contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Syracuse in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 3-1, Ferguson took a fastball from Artie González and stroked the home run to left. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Starks to leap in front, 4-3.

Syracuse manager Homer Robertson was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
