Sacramento left-hander Tom Ward pitched his team to victory over the Bakersfield Nobles at Sacramento Sanitation Station. The final score was 5-3. The save went to Chris Evans, his 7th this season. The win puts the Redlegs at 28-39, while the Nobles drop to 38-29.

Ken Ball came through for Sacramento when he hit a 2-run double in the bottom of the sixth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a two-strike cutter to right-center field, staking his team to a 5-3 lead.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Sacramento manager Kyle Lucas. "It's usually not just one thing."
