Fighting Dachshunds Score Late to Beat Starks, 6-5
|
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds withstood a fine game by Syracuse first baseman Andrés Durán at Dog Park in Ellenburg, to upend the Starks, 6-5. Durán was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Francis Davis picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Vincent Jones suffered the loss. The loss makes Syracuse 35-32.
Ellenburg got a clutch hit from Ricardo Álvarez. The center fielder launched a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Ellenburg manager Pedro Rodríguez.
