Clement Sizzles, Ellenburg Fizzles

The Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Syracuse Starks. The Fighting Dachshunds were overpowered by Syracuse starter Millard Clement, who hurled his club to victory, 4-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Pedro Rodríguez said.
Over 9 innings, Clement blanked Ellenburg on 6 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Clement said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
This season, Clement has a 1-2 mark in 2 starts with a 3.65 ERA. He has given up 39 hits in 37 innings, struck out 20 and issued 17 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .264 batting average against him.
