Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds and Nashville Hot Chickens.

The Nashville Hot Chickens could not turn a fine performance from center fielder Ellis Oliver into a win. Instead, the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds prevailed, 5-3. Oliver went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jody Dunn nailed down his 17th save.

Had Lou Pennington not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Pennington hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Fighting Dachshunds.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Pennington told the Ellenburg Daily News.

The triumph puts Ellenburg at 36-34 for the season.
