Hot Chickens Edge Florence in Pitching Duel
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Nashville Hot Chickens and the Florence Flamingos. Nashville won it, 1-0. Nashville starter Norberto Dávila was in command. The winner in relief was Kyle Collins. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-2. The 8th-place Hot Chickens now sit at 29-42.
Nashville took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Getsy Eberflus hit a clutch solo home run to bring Hot Chickens fans to their feet.
"We were trying to do a difficult thing -- winning a game without scoring," said Florence manager José Mejía. "That's not going to work out."
