Sacramento left fielder Manny Marrero had a good game, even if his team did not. The Redlegs dropped a 6-5 decision to Syracuse at Sacramento Sanitation Station. Marrero went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. At 35-36, the Starks are currently 5th in the Premier AAA.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Francisco Martínez came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Sacramento pitcher Gerald Currer, he hit a 2-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Syracuse on top, 6-5.

"There's a warrior mentality with this team," said Starks manager Homer Robertson.
