Werner Hayes impressed in the 8-2 Tortolita win over Syracuse. Hayes, who is tied for 6th in the PAAA in home runs with 12, was 2-5 with 2 home runs. Syracuse is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 8 in a row.

Tortolita used a timely hit from Greg Kirkwood to get the win. The center fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Drummers ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.

"Things will change for us," said Syracuse manager Homer Robertson. "When things change, we'll get clicking."
