The Syracuse Starks beat the Tortolita Drummers, 6-4, at Stark Stadium. The Starks got a fine performance from second baseman Godspower Nwawuihe, who was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2. Daniel Haney was called on to finish, recording his 5th save. Syracuse, with the win, sits at 25-47.
The Starks got an important contribution from center fielder Matt Dunham, who in the bottom of the first hit a 1-2 knuckle curve to center for a run-scoring double. It was his 18th double of the season and put the Starks ahead, 2-0.
Syracuse manager Homer Robertson called it "a good, solid win."
