The Norfolk Pajaritos topped the Montreal Machine, 11-2, at Norfolk Field. Norfolk shortstop Carlos Gracía was a spark plug for the offense. He was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. George Hill, the winner, improved to 7-4. He held the Machine to 2 runs on 5 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 0. Norfolk, at 33-39, holds down 7th place in the Premier AAA.
With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Danny Kemp had a game-changing hit. The Pajaritos second baseman slammed a run-scoring single off Tynan Hunter, making the score 3-2, Norfolk.
"Not much to say," Montreal manager Alfonso Vera said, when asked afterward about the defeat.
