Squirrel Monkeys Pull Out Late Win, 5-4
|
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys outlasted the Jersey City Tritons, 5-4, in 12 innings. Syracuse designated hitter Wyatt Hathaway stood out with his performance. He went 3 for 5 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Syracuse is in 6th place in the Premier AAA with a record of 38-36.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 12th. With one out, Hathaway hit a fastball from Steffen Benton for a run-scoring single. The Squirrel Monkeys, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Ramón Barrueco, the Syracuse skipper.
