Starks Get One-Run Win at Norfolk
Norfolk Field was the site of a tense game between the Norfolk Pajaritos and Syracuse Starks.

In a low-scoring contest between the Syracuse Starks and the Norfolk Pajaritos, Jorge Vázquez was the X factor. The Syracuse right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Vázquez picked up the win for Syracuse, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-3. Mario Méndez was credited with the save for Syracuse, his 19th of the season.

Syracuse used a clutch at-bat from Paul Johnston to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Starks ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Jorge showed what he's made of," said Syracuse manager Homer Robertson.
