Rob Hancock had a good game, but he could not keep the Sacramento Redlegs from falling, 6-2, to the Montreal Machine at Stade Olympique. The Sacramento left fielder went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles in the loss. Montreal reliever Gunnar Hamilton was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-1. Yoshitaka Shinohara took the loss for Sacramento. The Machine improved to 34-40.

Early in the game, designated hitter Jerry Downey had a 3-run home run for Montreal. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Machine on top, 3-0.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Machine manager Alfonso Vera.
