The Baton Rouge Brass welcomed the Pennsauken Flyers to an afternoon game at Pennsauken Park.

Baton Rouge pitcher Arthur Ward had a large part in his team subduing the Pennsauken Flyers, 5-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Ward, the winner, moves to 9-0. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk.

Baton Rouge used the clutch hitting of Brad Vaughn to snag the win. The third baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Brass ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Baton Rouge manager Luis Ruíz.

Baton Rouge improves to 49-26 with the win. They lead their division by 6 games.
