Syracuse Rallies for 6-4 Win
|
Gale Boetticher did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Norfolk Pajaritos from being beaten, 6-4, to the Syracuse Starks at Norfolk Field. Boetticher went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Syracuse pitcher Richello Dosono got the win, upping his record to 3-2. Román Bastardo got the loss. Mario Méndez sewed up the save, his 7th.
Syracuse used the timely hitting of Paul Johnston to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Starks on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I know we have our doubters," said Norfolk manager Phil Baker. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
The 8th-place Starks improved to 27-48.
