Sacramento Redlegs pitcher Brian McDaniel was in top form, leading his team past the Montreal Machine, 4-1. McDaniel, the winner, moves to 2-9. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 4 walks. The Redlegs saw their record improve to 31-44.
Elvin Baldwin took Montreal hurler Lance Leslie deep in the top of the third. His 3-run home run put the Redlegs on top, 3-0. In all, Baldwin had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Brian gave us a heck of an effort," said Sacramento manager Kyle Lucas.
