Starting pitcher Marc Maxwell was a major factor in the 3-1 Montreal Machine triumph over the Jersey City Tritons. Maxwell yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-5. Picking up his 2nd save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher David Cole.

Montreal used a clutch at-bat from John Hines to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Machine ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Hines said.

The win gives Montreal a season record of 42-34.
