Tritons 8-0 Winners Versus Florence
Jersey City pitcher Trent Troubridge had a large part in his team subduing the Florence Flamingos, 8-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. The winner was Troubridge. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Héctor Salas. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Albert Wallace.

The Flamingos had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Tritons going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 31-year old right fielder Clifton Roberson came to the plate. Roberson hit a 2-run triple on a 1-1 sinker from Florence hurler Héctor Salas. It was Roberson's 2nd triple of the year.

"They took it to us," said Florence manager José Mejía.

The Tritons move to 37-40 with the win, while the Flamingos drop to 28-49.
