Starks Absorb 1-0 Loss at Brass Field
The Baton Rouge Brass got a marvelous performance from pitcher Arthur Ward. The left-hander kept the Syracuse offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 1-0 Baton Rouge victory at Brass Field. Ward picked up the win for Baton Rouge, going 5.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 6-1. Will Gordon recorded the save for Baton Rouge, his 7th of the season.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Brass had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when center fielder Chris Veeck hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Adam Walker and made the score 1-0, Brass. Veeck went 1-4.

"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said Syracuse manager Homer Robertson.

The win for the Brass lifted their record to 42-36.
