Syracuse starter Cody Beasley pitched well against the Jersey City Tritons at The Zoo in Syracuse. The right-hander led his team to a win, 8-7, in 10 innings. Syracuse reliever Roberto Esparza picked up the win to move to 2-0. Roberto Alegría suffered the loss. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Squirrel Monkeys.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Syracuse. That's when James Sterling hit a 3-run home run off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Roberto Alegría to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"Cody was better than good. He was sensational," said Syracuse manager Ramón Barrueco.
