Starks Handle Hot Chickens, Nab 4-3 Win
|
José Carmona, who leads the PAAA in strikeouts with 96, was locked in. The right-hander led the Syracuse Starks to a 4-3 win against the Nashville Hot Chickens at Stark Stadium. The save was Mario Méndez's, his 20th. The 9th-place Starks bumped their record to 32-48.
Bill Johnson, who is tied for 3rd in the PAAA in triples with 3, had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out and the bases loaded, the Syracuse left fielder hit a 2-run single. That put the Starks in front, 3-2.
"Got a lot of swings and misses today," said Carmona.
