Behind a fine performance from Mart Vroom, the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys knocked off the Jersey City Tritons, 10-2. Vroom was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Squirrel Monkeys. The Squirrel Monkeys have now won 6 straight.

The Tritons had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Squirrel Monkeys going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the former first overall pick Sidney Ames came to the plate. Ames hit a 2-run home run on a 2-0 fastball from Jersey City hurler Chris Jackson. It was Ames's 6th home run of the year.
