Tritons Earn Clutch Win, 5-4
|
The Jersey City Tritons needed 10 innings to beat the Bakersfield Nobles, 5-4, at Jersey City Grounds. The win was due in part to second baseman Jason Zimmerman, who hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The win was credited to Anthony Carney in relief. His record improves to 2-1. James Ellison took the loss. The 6th-place Tritons lifted their record to 39-41.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Zimmerman hit a curveball from Israel Ramos for a run-scoring single. The Tritons, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager John Sirica.
