Liberty Reserves Stay Hot, Beat Flyers, 6-1
|
Philadelphia Liberty Reserves starter Manuel Juárez pitched well against the Pennsauken Flyers at Liberty Reserve Stadium, leading his team to a win, 6-1. Juárez yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 11-3. The Liberty Reserves, now 49-33, have won 5 in a row.
David Johnson had a big 2-run double for the Liberty Reserves in the bottom of the second inning. With Philadelphia leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Bob McCann and swatted a double to right. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Liberty Reserves ahead, 3-0.
"We did a lot of things right," said Johnson.
