Brass Rough Up Tritons, Take 14-0 Win
Due in large part to left fielder Bill Barnes, the Baton Rouge Brass sunk the Jersey City Tritons, 14-0. Barnes went 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3. John Mustard, the winner, improved to 5-1. He held Jersey City to no runs on 4 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 12 strikeouts. The Brass go to 53-31, putting them first in the Premier AAA.

The Brass got an important contribution from third baseman Brad Vaughn, who in the bottom of the second knocked a first pitch fastball to right for a 2-run double. It was his 13th double of the season and put the Brass ahead, 3-0.

"We didn't play well enough to win," said Jersey City skipper John Sirica.
