Juan Rayo pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Calgary Lynx, despite Rayo's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Milton Dogfish Head at Lynx Stadium. Juan Cruz picked up the win, improving his season record to 8-6. He struck out 3 in 6.1 innings. Anthony Carney finished to wrap up his 5th save.
Milton used the timely hitting of Héctor Ancelno to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dogfish Head on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Milton manager Gonzalo Velásquez said.
The Dogfish Head sit in last place in the Premier AAA with a record of 34-50.
