The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids beat the Memphis Mockingbirds, 8-6, at Atlantica. Harvey Thomas, in particular, was impressive. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Quinton Barnard sewed up the save, his 11th. Memphis is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 8 in a row.

Alfredo Gómez cracked a home run off Lawrence Wood in the bottom of the seventh. His 3-run blast put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 7-4. In all, Gómez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Thomas, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
