Jerome Grounds hosted a real pitchers' duel.

In a low-scoring contest, Bakersfield pitcher Lawrence MacLellan was marvelous in his team's 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was MacLellan, now 3-1. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 3.

Making an impact for the home team was Lorenzo Gallardo. In the bottom of the first, the 29-year old catcher had a run-scoring ground out. That made the score 2-0, Nobles.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Gallardo.

The Nobles saw their win-loss record go to 47-42. At the same time, the Starks fell to 39-50.
